Every person has got some experience in life that creates a huge impact on his personality and turns his life at 180°. Admission to one of the biggest B-schools in the country, first solo trip to Europe, a big paycheque, first owned car or even a broken marriage. But for me, it’s these two books that I finished reading days ago but have brought a big change in my perspective. These are Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert T. Kiyosaki and Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill. I would love to share my experience of reading them. However, I feel, these books need no paraphrasing. So, here are some best-picked lines that I have been strongly following. Hope you contemplate them too!!

Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert T. Kiyosaki

The poor and the middle-class work for money, the rich have money work for them.

Rich people acquire assets, the poor and the middle class acquire liabilities that they think are assets.

Fear is the main reason that people say, “Play it safe.”

An intelligent man hires people who are more intelligent than he is.

Your home is a liability because it takes money out of your pocket-not only with taxes and expenses but also because of its loss in value and the opportunities missed when all your money is tied up in your house.

Buy assets that will general the case flow to pay for your liabilities.

The primary reason the majority of the poor and middle class are fiscally conservative is that they have no financial foundation.

The more specialized you become the more you are trapped in and dependent on that specialization.

To be successful you must develop successful habits.

Pay yourself first: the power of self-discipline

Listening is more important than talking. If that were not true, God would not have given us two ears and only one mouth.

The poor and middle class start late but quickly change their plans, the rich start quickly but slowly change their plans.

Whenever you feel short or in need of something, give what you want first and it will come in buckets.

God does not need to receive, but humans need to give.

Without a strong reason or purpose, anything in life is hard.

Small people remain small because they think small, act alone or don’t act at all.

It is what in your head that determines what in your hands.

Money is only an idea. If you want more money simple change your thinking.

Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill

There is no such thing as something for nothing.

All achievement, all earned riches, have their beginning in an idea.

One should know not only what to do but also how to do it.

You are the master of your fate, the captain of your soul.

If you do not see great riches in your imagination, you will never see them in your bank balance.

Never has there been a time more favourable to pioneers than the present.

Dreams are the seedlings of reality.

Every adversity brings with it the seed of an equivalent advantage.

A mind dominated by positive emotions becomes a favourable abode for the state of mind known as faith.

No genuine leader is ever “too busy” to do anything.

Not the lawyer who knows the most law but the one who best prepares his case wins.

Poverty is attracted to the one whose mind is favourable to it as money is attracted to him whose mind has been deliberately prepared to attract it.

The emotion of love brings out and develops the artistic and aesthetic nature of man.

Man’s greatest motivating force is his desire to please a woman!

The woman who understands man’s nature and tactfully caters to it, need to have no fear of competition from other women.

Nothing brings man so much suffering and humility as POVERTY!

Do not expect troubles as they have a tendency not to disappoint.

The mind could produce anything the mind could conceive and believe.

The world wants to know only one thing- have you achieved SUCCESS?

If you relate both the books, they focus on the power of money but neither says it is most powerful. It is our mind that creates riches. Now that does mean you book a ticket and go to LA or Goa. Creating riches doesn’t mean bucketing your bank balance, it means how you use your mind what it is fundamentally designed for- focus, discipline, selflessness, optimism and most importantly burning desire. We are all fortunate to have God’s most beautiful and powerful creation-MIND. Now, it’s up to us how we optimise it to bring our share of riches!

It’s a lockdown in India. I am looking forward to reading more books by these audacious & unabashed men.
