(Amidst Lush Green trees and tranquillity lies my Boarding School that has made me the person I’m today — here is a tribute to Birla Balika Vidyapeeth)

Birla Balika Vidyapeeth, Pilani (Raj.)

Dear BBV,

On 4th April 2012, I took my first step for a two-year-long journey at Birla Balika Vidyapeeth. There was a different aura of the humongous school building. It spoke of its great heritage. I was naive and completely unknown to the hostel world. With dreams in my eyes, I entered. There I see the magnificent Pilani band, standing tall. I had heard a lot about the band. But it was much more in real. Honestly, I can’t give the verbal expressions of its prestige. It was scintillating with girls donning the beautiful band dress and the Nehru cap. No girl could refrain herself from joining the band so nor could I. This finally took me to the remarkable RDC-2013. I joined the band as a sousaphone player, popularly known as a guide. Standing in the first file of the band, we, the guide were the stalwarts of the entire band, especially, when it came to Band display. Rajkumar Sir was the hero of our band. His dedication and hard work made us more determined to practise even amidst chilly weather. I still remember all the formations, Swastik, 101, Aeroplane, and many more. My feet start moving when I listen to “Kadam-Kadam, Sare Jahan se Achcha..” every year on TV.

The first couple of weeks were challenging for me, from getting along with classmates to doing everything on my own. But the beautiful vicinity of the school soon accepted me as its child. Usha Ma’am, Anju Ma’am, Savita Ma’am and Nirmala Ma’am played a pivotal role in shaping my personality. I remember how all our teachers used to come to our rooms to solve our doubts and stay late at night just for us so that we could achieve our goals. Not just in academics, the teachers helped me know the very essence of life through their life lessons. I am particularly grateful to Sita Ma’am for inculcating the love for English in me. I believe I am able to pen down my feelings today for she showed faith in me and gave wings to my dreams. No hostel story is complete without friends and I take extreme pride in my friendships. I made friends coming from all across the country and the world. Aishwarya, Renuka, Aditi, Akansha, Anu, Linu, Bhawini, Medha and all my dear friends made every moment at Vidyapeeth memorable. How can I forget the very famous “Bornvita cake” and “Wai-Wai maggie”, we used to make on every b’day celebration? Saturday’s custard to dance parties to excursions, I am getting vivid flashbacks as I am writing.

This school has given me innumerable moments, friendships and teachings that I am going to cherish forever. All that I am today is because of the two quintessential years of my life I spent at Vidyapeeth. I soon will visit my school when I feel more accomplished and successful in life.

This is to all the girls who are willing to join BBV, “I’ve lived my dream. When are you planning to live yours?”
